How a pool heat pump works

Much like a reverse cycle air conditioning unit, the heat pump uses an evaporation, compressor, and condenser to heat water instead of cooling the air.

1. First, the fan circulates air through the outer evaporator air coil and absorbs heat from the air. The liquid refrigerant in the air coil absorbs the heat and transforms it into a gas.
   
   
2. The compressor receives the warm refrigerant and makes it hotter. The hot refrigerant is then pumped into the condenser.
   
   
3. The heat from the hot refrigerant in the condenser is then transferred into the pool water via the heat exchanger
   
   
4. The refrigerant starts the process again and flows into the evaporator air coil to collect the heat again.
